VICE-REGAL VISIT

PRELIMINARY ARRANGEMENTS Arrangements in connection with the first official' visit of their Excellencies, the Governor-General and Lady Bledisloe, to Wanganui arc now well in hand. Their Excellencies will arrive at Wanganui on the morning of June 10 and the visit will extend until Juno 12. The following tentative programme has been drawn up:— On arrival at the Wanganui station, the Vice-Regal party will be met by the Mayor, Mr W t J. Rogers, councillors and members of Parliament. After a formal welcome has been extended, thc party will proceed to their hotel. Later their Excellencies will be thc guests of the Rotary Club at luncheon. In thc afternoon, visits will be paid to the public and Karitane Hospitals. In the evening their Excellencies will be accorded a civic reception at thc Opera House. Wednesday morning will be spent in visiting thc Wanganui Technical College, Collegiate School, Girls’ College, St. George’s School, Sacred Heart Convent, and Central Infants’ and Keith Streets Infants’ Schools. In thc afternoon their Excellencies will be present

nt an assembly of children from schools not visited during the morning. Later Lord and Lady Bledisloe will be the guests of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union. In the evening Lord Bledisloe will bo the guest of honour at a function arranged by the Savage Club, while Lady Bledisloe will be entertained by the members of the Victoria League.

On Thursday morning their Excellencies will be taken on a motor drive into the country. A visit to Mr G. F. Moore’s farm, “Bushy Park,” has also been arranged, and if time permits the visitors will be taken on a drive around the city before the departure of the train.
