FULL ENFORCEMENT WOULD COST $300,000,000 A YEAR. [ Australian Press Assn. I WASHINGTON, Dec. 5. Prohibition Commissioner Doran informed the House of Representatives’ Appropriation Committee that the Effective policing of the United States and the enforcement of prohibition would cost 300,060,(.(l0 dollars a year. Appropriations for this purpose for the new fiscal year will onlv he 40,000,000 dollars. Commissioner Doran expressed the opinion that in the circumstances the Government was doing a “pretty good job. ’ It was a matter of policy whether Congress wanted to embark on the police business. If >o, it. would take 300,000.000 dollars year, and a system of the United States courts covering the land.
