TRAM STRIKES WAGGON

MOTORMAN IN HOSPITAL PASSENGERS ESCAPE INJURY While proceeding to Castlecliff, the 9 o’clock tram from the city last evening crashed into an overhead repair wagon at Blgnell Street. The motorman, Air James Kidd, residing at 18 Somme Parade, was thrown out of his cabin, which was completely wrecked, and was taken to the public hospital for observation. His condition was later reported to be not serious, although he was badly bruised and was suffering from shock. The driver apparently failed to sec the wagon, which was drawn up across the line, in time to avoid a collision. The damaged car was towed back to the barn by the train which followed behind it. The wagon was less severely damaged and was able to be driven back to the shed. Air E. Jackson, who was or. the wagon, working on the overhead wire, saw the tram approaching and was able to reach the ground before the collision occurred. The tram was drawing two trailers, filled with late shoppers returning home, but none of the passengers was injured.
