CHINESE TROOPS CONSIDERABLE ANXIETY- [ British Official Wireless. ] RUGBY, June 24. The absence of control over large numbers of Chihli and Shantung troops in the coal-mining area of Tongshan and Kailan is causing considerable anxiety, and there is danger of all discipline among the troops disappearing. The situation has already been rendered acute owing to their threatening attitude and internal quarrels. In order to protect British and Chinese lives and property in the area, a battalion of British troops was yesterday despatched from Wei Hai Wei for Chin Wang Tao, whence they will proceed aS once to Tongshan.
