SOLICITOR SENTENCED
CLIENTS’ LIFE SAVINGS LOST At Glamorgan Assizes, Charles John Herman Capel 1, a Porthcawl solicitor, was sentenced to three years’ penal servitude for forgery ard fraudulent conversion. Capcll pleaded guilty to twenty-four charges, involving £1,305. It was stated that, by forging deeds he had received a total of £2,800. Passing sentence, Air Justice AlcKinnon said that Capcll had abused the trim of an honourable profession. The frauds were particularly mean, because in many of the. cases the money was obtained from people who had been deprived of their life savings. “You took advantage of your education and knowledge,” the Judge added, “and the ignorance of those you misled. ’ ’
