Errors in the. survey were widely known and 1 h< work proposed would take 20 years and cost £105.000 if it were to be of any value. The Aiinistor of Education officially opened a new building to accommoilale pupils at the Foxton District High .School yesterday, before a large assemblage. The building is the gift of flic (daughters of the late Alaori Chief, Ihakara Tukumaru. Speeches were made i*y the Alayor, chairman and members of the Education Board. Mi’ W. .1. Linklater, M.P., and representatives the district schools, aid Mr Hone AlcAlillan on behalf of the Maoris. The Aiinistor was presented with a gold inscribed key by Mrs J. K. Hornblow, wife of the chairman, on behalf of Hie committee. The building is constructed of brick and is ventilated. and lighted on modern lines.
