Mister Gamp, who changed hands recently, will not go to the South Island, as was expected, but will remain ar Awapuni, and continue to be traiped by J. p. Coyloe. His new owner is Mr E. W. Coilins, a brother of the former owner. Mr Collins also races Arrow Lad.

Prince Audo, who figures among the acceptors for the Eastbrook Handicap at the Wanganui Trotting Club’s meeting to-day, has a good deal of speed, but unfortunately he does not go too steady in races. When Prince Audo can control his speed properly in a race he will win a good stake.

Modern, who has given fair displays in her efforts over obstacles recently. was successful in the hurdles at the Rangitikei fixture. Modern is engaged at Masterton on Friday, and should be first into the birdcage again.

At the Melbourne bloodstock sales held during the autumn meeting of the Victoria Racing Club, 127 lots made 19,035 gns.

.Midnight Sun, who won the New Zealand Cup in 1912, and was also placed in the same race in 1913, was recently represented by a winner over hurdles in Australia. An American exchange says .hat the trainer Durnell is building a steel and concrete stable on the site adjoining Churchill Downs- It is the most modern stable round Louisville, and, though it will accommodate only twenty horses, is costing £16,000. The Marlborough Racing Club has issued the programme of its Autumn Meeting, to be held at Trentham 21st and 23rd April. The Waterloo Cup, of 300 sovs., one mile and n-quarter, and the Autumn Handicap, of 200 sovs., six furlongs, are the principal events. Mr J. M. Griffiths is running the meeting, and nominations close at the office of the Wellington Racing Club, as well as at the -Marlborough Club’s office, on Friday next, March 30. King Balboa won the North Otago Cup from end to end, and was never fully extended at any part of the race. Heather Lad finished second after standing the leader up four or five lengths over the last six furlongs, which King Balboa ran in Imin. 15scc.

Laughing Prince was not in the New Zealand St. Leger, but he may (make matters for Satrap in the Great Northern St. Leger, though the Riccarton representative should outstay his rival-

The programme of th© Egmont Racing Club’s Winter Meeting on May 10 and 12 is acknowledged from the secretary, Mr E- P. Cox. The Egmont Steeplechase, with a stake of 400 sovs., is the main prize, the M‘Rae Memorial Handicap of 300 sovs., one mile and aquartor, being the principal flat race. J he stakes are good and the programme is an attractive one. Nominations close on Friday, April 25.

The yearling full-brother to Discourse (Gasbag—Ladify) has been christened Jami to. Like his brother he was bred and is owned by Trainer F. J. Carmont, of Foxton

Ladify has been a shy breeder of late, as there was no production by her after foaling Discourse until Jamito came to light.

It is understood that Hynanna is pretty certain to be at Riccarton at Easter. At his best he is in the top

The Trentham trainer, H. B. Lorigan, is expected at Riccarton for the Easter meeting, with Cimabue, Oratrix and the two-year-old Concentrate-

It was thought that with the arrival of autumn and the sting leaving the ground, it would have been possible to race Piuthair again. T. Llovd. who was at Trentham last week, stated that hopes in that direction have not been fulfilled, and the Kilbroney mare is now in the paddock and will not bo trained again for a while

The brilliant form recently display cd in Melbourne by the ini

ported horse Gothic has naturally won the greatest praise from the critics. Gothic was got by Tracery from Sundrella. by Sundridge from Yalta, by Winkfield’s Pride from Malte, by JSt. Simon from Mischief, bv Hampton. Tracery was got by Rock Sand, bv Orme from Topiary, a sister to The Wag, the sire of Kilbroney.

It is interesting to note that Martarma (winner of the Great Northern Derby) and Satrap (winner of the New Zealand St. Leger) were included in a collection of seven yearlings sent up to auction from the Kinloch Slud by the late Mr J. F. Buchanan, in the spring of 1925. Martarma was sold for 800 guineas, but Satrap only realised 150 guineas.

The Auckland gelding Sir Archie, ■who sustained injuries in a railway accident when returning from the Franklin meeting, is doing as well as can be expected, though he appears to be suffering to some extent from shock. It is to be hoped that this promising gelding ’s racing career will not be impaired as the result of the accident.

Moorland was purchased recently from D- Campbell by J. Beale. The Finland gelding has since been disposed of to the West Coast owner, Mr J. Wilson, a patron of Donnellan and Shanahan's stable, and he has gone to the West Coast.
