NEW CLUB FORMED A SUCCESSFUL INITIAL MEETING A meeting was held on Tuesday evening for the purpose of forming au amateur cycling club. With Mr H. Dustin in the chair, the following decided: to form themselves into a cycling club, the name to be left in abeyance until the next meeting:—Messrs Cave, Anderson, Chainey, Ross, Erskine, Hcwgill, Gurr, Falconer and Doblc.
A set of rules were read but adoption of same was deferred until the next general meeting. The following officers were elected: Patron, E. D. Bennett, Esq.; president, Mr G. Hewgill; vice-presidents, Messrs W. Draffin, W. Goss, Broadheail, A. J. Thompson, A. F. Healey, R. Spurdie; honorary secretary and treasurer, Mr F. W. Erskine, club captain, Mr C. A. Cave; delegate to \Vanganui-Taranaki Centre, N.Z.A.A.A., Mr C. Chainey. The appointments of handicapper ana committee were left to the next meeting.
The subscription was fixed at 5s for senior members, 2s 6d for junior, and 10s for honorary members. The colours decided on were blue and' white and the uniform royal blue with white collar and cuffs. The following active members were elected: C. A. Cave, K. E. Anderson, C. Chainey, F. W. Erskine, I. 11. Ross, C. Gurr, H. Doblc, D. Falconer.
A further general meeting will be held on Wednesday to adopt rules and elect additional officers. Indications point to the club functioning with success. THE TOUR DE FRANCE AUSTRALIAN LICENSES GRANTED (A. & N.Z.) PARIS, March 27. It is announced that Australian cyclists will certainly be supplied with licenses by the Union Cyclists’ International, and that they will not be prevented from competing in the Tour-dc-Francc.
