WANGANUI CLUB PRIZES PRESENTED. The Wanganui Croquet Club held its official closing ceremony* and presentation of prizes ou Saturday. The Mayor Mr Rogers presented tho trophies won during the season. The weather not being favourable competitions had to be abandoned.

After a dainty afternoon tea served by the members under the leadership of Mrs McDougal, the following trophies were presented: —"A” championship (Mrs C. H. E. Rhodes’ Cup).—Mrs IL G. Skeet; runner-up, Archdeacon Meredith. "A” handicap singles.—Mrs BLennerhasset. "A” handicap doubles.—Mrs Blennerhasset and Mrs Falconer. "B” championship singles. —Mrs E. Delves, runner-up, Mrs Savage. "B” handicap singles.—Mrs Savage. "B” handicap doubles. —Mrs Delves and Miss Paul. Mrs Crawford’s buttons, A and B. —> Mrs Fulton and Mrs Delves. Mrs Lewis Bas»?tt’s buttons "A” doubles. —Mrs Len Bassett and Mrs Falconer. Grieve cup, for lower "A’s”, final yet to be played. Mrs T. Rhodes’ trophy, for "A’s”. —Archdeacon Meredith. Triphy presented by 5| bisque players to top "A’s”—Mrs Blennerhasset. Mrs Trigg’s trophies.—Mrs Lamont, Mrs Carrig. During the afternoon the Mayor, on behalf of the club made a presentation of a handsome coffee service to Mrs C. H. E. Rhodes, the retiring president, who is not seeking re-election. Ho spoke of the excellent work both she and Mr Rhodes had done for the club. Mrs Rhodes who was taken by surprise suitably replied.

Another member whose services have been much appreciated by tho club is Mrs McDougal, as convenor of the Tea Committee she has worked hard for several years and to show their appreciation of her work the members asked the Mayor to present Mrs McDougal with a crystal water jug and set of goblets. Mrs McDougal expressed her thanks. The Mayor then called for three cheers for the caretaker and his wife, Mr and Mrs Beale. These were heartily given as the members appreciate very much the care and attention given to the lawns by Mr Beale. A hearty vote of thanks to tho Mayor for presiding brought to a close a very pleasant afternoon. Club Cmpetition. Following arc results in the "A” competition for Mrs I. Rhodes’ trophy. First round. —Mrs Len Bassett beat Mrs Pauli 26 —18; Mrs Blennerhasset beat Mrs Pauli 26 —13. Second round.—Mrs McDougal beat Mrs Bowler 26—18; Mrs Egan beat Mrs Rowling 26—23; Mrs Fulton beat Mrs Ballingal 26—23; Mrs Lon Bassett boat Miss Anderson 26—14; Arch. dith beat Mrs Blennerhasset ‘ *-•»:

Mrs Jarvic beat Mrs Skeet 26—i: ; Mr Lawrie beat Miss Burgess 26—21* Mr Falconer beat Mrs Harlc 26 —20.

Third round.—Mrs Egan beat Mrs McDougal 26—17; Mrs Fulton beat Mrs Len Bassett 26—19; Arch. Meredith beat Mrs Jarvio 26—9; Mrs Lourie beat Mrs Falconer 26—19.

Fourth round.—Mrs Egan beat Mrs Fulton 26—23; Arch. Meredith beat Mrs Lawrie 26—21.

Final.—Arch. Meredith beat Mrs Egan 26—11.
