A Perth message reports the death of Sir Alfred Langler, governing director of the newspaper West Australian, aged 68.
Air J. S. Barton, S.M., has been appointed sole commissioner in regard to the Taylorville Band, but there is a possibility of the matter being settled amicably betwen the local bodies, without the necessity of a commission.
A Sydney message reports the death, at the age of 65, of the Rev. James Richard Al array, a well-known Methodist minister and Alaori War veteran. He had charge of the mission at Christchurch till 1906, when he went to Australia.
A London message states that Sir Truby King, after spending three weeks investigating the mothercraft centres of Britain, will make a live weeks’ tour of the Continent. He will attend a nurses’ meeting on Wednesday and a Royal tea party at Buckingham Palace on Thursday.
Railwaymen assembled at the Social Hall on Saturday evening when a smoke concert was tendered Air J. A. Moffatt, locomotive foreman, who is leaving on transfer on promotion for Dunedin. During the evening Air W. A. A’eitch ALP., presented Air Moffatt with a pair of binoculars and Airs Aloffatt with a silver tea set.
