Union. Early in the season it was suggested by the Wairoa Sub-Union that this Union should go on tour, the Wairoa secretary offering to arrange a suitable programme. The team left on September 9, played at Dannevirke on September 10, beating that Sub-Union 23 to 9; Central Hawke’s Bay, at Waipukurau on September 14, the score being Taihape 12, Central Hawke’s Bay 9; Wairoa on September 17, the score being Wairoa 15, Taihape 3. The final match was played against Hawke’s Bay at Napier and resulted in a win for Hawke’s Bay by 38 to 6. The financial aspect of the tour was very disappointing, none of the gate takings amounting to anything like the low estimate that the committee anticipated. The total gate money was £74 3s 2d, and the expenses amounted to £l7l 14s. The tour showed a loss of £97 Ils 5(1. In spite of this the committee feels' sure that the expense was fully war ranted, as our men gained experience that they would not otherwise have acquired. The committee wishes to place on record its appreciation of the services of Messrs Overton, Nicholls, Quirk and Ormond, who so generously gave the. use of their cars and services for the tour; also to Air Hogan, who to a large extent was responsible for the physical fitness of our men.
