LISTER SHEEP-SHEARING MACHINES

SEMI-PORTABLE SHEARING PLANT THE NEW LISTER CREAM SEPARATOR. I LEVIN AND CO’S FINE DISPLAY. No introduction of modern times has done more to revolutionise the conditions of a particular industry than the application of mechanical contrivances , to the removal of the sheep’s wool. ; The transition from the old-fashioned scissor shears to machine shears in Australia and other wool-growing countries was only accomplished after many long years of ceaseless opposition on the part of the hand shearers, and there has been no greater contributory factor to this result than the wonderful success of the Lister Machine Shears, now in almost universal use. The enormous number of Lister Shears at work and the increasing demand afford the best evidence of their practical 'value. A summary of the advantages of mechanical shearing may be stated as follows: — The Lister Machine Shear can be mastered in a few minutes. The work can bo done very expeditiously on any part of the farm. There is no waiting about for incompetent hand shearers. The wool, being taken off close to the skin, is not only materially increased in quantity but is of greatly improved quality, resulting in a substantial annual gain. The wool is removed, without tearing, in a single fleece and without injury to the sheep. In a word: Hand Shearing is leakage and loss, “Lister” Machine Shearing is efficiency and profit. The Lister Shearing Machines are made in one of the finest works in the world devoted to this class of work. The materials employed are previously submitted to careful tests in our own chemical Laboratory, and the whole manufacturing is carried out on the most up-to-date British lines. The perfected article thus produced is the logical conclusion of thirty years of experience. In the Colonies, where sheep shearing is conducted on practically scientific lines, upwards of a hundred million sheep are shorn annually by these very effective labour-saving machines, and thousands, and thousands of users in all » pairts testify that “The “Lister’ meets every modern requirement.
