CITY COUNCIL
COMMITTEE REPORTS WORKS AUTHORISED The City Council met last evening, when there were present: the Mayor (Mr W. J. Rogers), Councillors W. M. Lurford, J. Siddells, J. Calver, C. H. Burnett, C. W. Poynter, W. M. Falconer, S. E. Read, J. T. Werry, A, E. Halligan and John Morrison. Works Committee. The Works Committee reported that the City Engineer had been asked to report on the drainage necessary at the abattoirs. The following subdivisions had been approved:—Part Section 290 Ingestre and Churton Streets, Part Lot 3, D.P. 8344 Ingestre Street, Lot 60, D.P. 1403, Caius Avenue. The City Engineer had been requested to report as to what could be done to prevent flood water in Koromiko Road flowing on to private property. The committee had authorised an expenditure of £2O to clear Lemington Street of overgrowth. Reserves Committee. The Reserves Committee recommended that the City Engineer be asked to provide an estimate of providing a cook house and additional conveniences at Ajramoho Park. That permission be given to the Male Choir to hold concert on the evenings of December 28 and 29, and to erect a pontoon on Virginia La.se tor the performers. The charge to be 10 per cent, on the takings, and the wages of three men to look after the grounds during the performances; as an alternative, that the choir be offered the use or Aramoho Park on the dates mentioned, free of charge. That a license be grantee! at a fee of £1 Is for the erection of a tent on the beach at Castlecliff, from which to hire out deck chairs and surf boards, the term of the license to be from December 3 to March 3. Gas Committee. The Gas Committee recommended that authority be given for the Gas Engineer to proceed with the work o? extending the mains to Durham Road.
