Tn the Davis Cup preliminary first match, Ulrich (Denmark) boat Gregory (Britain), 6—0,6 —3, 3 —6, 6—2; Higgs (Britain) beat Worm (Denmark), 6—3, 6—4, 6—.1, B—l, o—B. GONVILLE CLUB THE WEEK’S DOINGS A fair number of members attended at. the Gonvillc courts last week and the ladies provided a dainty afternoon tea. as usual. The (Championship final between G. Orr and A. Walker was a very hard and most interesting game. There were a good many fine vollies and some bril liant exchanges on the volley at times. G. Orr, last year ’s champion, just managed to get through. The result was as follows: G. Orr beat A. Walker 5-6, 6-5, 8-6.
