ESCAPED PRISONER
VALUELESS CHEQUES ISSUED MAN SENT BACK TO GAOL. [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, May 20. William Giiy, alias Baker and Humphries, aged 29, pleaded guilty at the Magistrate’s Court to two charges of obtaining goods and money by means of valueless cheques, and being an escapee from the Kaikunc Prison Camp. Mr. Page, S.M., in sentencing him to twelve months’ imprisonment to be served at the expiration of the original term of two years, said if prisoners abused privileges they could not expect lenient treatment from the Court. On the cheque charges a sentence of three months’ was imposed, the charges to oe concurrent.
