DOCTOR’S ACHIEVEMENTS ISOLATION OF LONG-SOUGHT GERM (A. & N.Z.) WASHINGTON, May 19. Dr. Hideyo Noguchi, addressing the American Medical Asociation, aniiounce»d the isolation of the long sought germ of trachoma. Dr. Noguchi, who is a member of the Rockefeller Institute of Medical Research, described seven years’ experiments which had ultimately resulted in the isolation. During this period he collaborated, with Dr. Martin Cohen, of New York. At the conclusion of his address 1000 eye specialists rose and cheered him.
Simultaneously, in another part of the building, Dr. Clyde Snook, of the Bell Telephone Co. laboratories gave a demonstration of the amplification of heart beats ten trillions times by means of what he calls an electrical stethoscope, which makes a beat sound like a thunderclap.
