AUSTRALIAN LABOUR SPLIT IN NEW SOUTH WALES CABINET. (A. & N.Z.) SYDNEY, May 18. Another split has occurred in th© State Labour Cabinet The Federal conference of the Australian Labour Party at Canberra endorsed the Labour candidature of Captain Conway for the Warringah seat in the Federal Parliament, rendered vacant by Sir Granville Ryrie’s resignation, consequent on his appointment to the High Commissionership. The Seale faction supports Mr O’Gorman. and has instructed its members to take the platform in his support. Messrs Lang and Willis have decided to support Mr O’Gorman. The other members of Cabinet arc supporting Mr Conway. The split in Cabinet led to a scene before the Governor, when, at a meeting of the Executive Council, Mr Lang attempted to place his private secretary in a position at the head of the Child Welfare and Women’s Pensions Department, at a salary of £1750. The other members of Cabinet objected to the appointment, and the Governor referred the matter back to Cabinet.
