SKINS, HIDES AND TALLOW
WANGANUI SALE. Levin anl Co., Ltd., report as follows regarding yesterday’s sale of skins, hides and tallow: —The usual attendance of buyers was present, when wc offered 4500 skins and 500 hides. Sheepskins were firm at late rates. We quote: —Half bred. lOd to 13d; fine crossbred lOd to 12$d; medium, coarse crossbred, 8d to 12d; short to half wools, 5d to lid; lambs, 8d to Hid; dead and damaged, 6d to 9jd; inferior and badly damaged, 3d to 7|d; salted and green ,£s 6d to 9s 9d. Hides were firm. Calfskins showed ad's anced prices for good lots to the extent of ljd per lb. We quote:—Ox: Heavy, 701bs and over, 84d to 10 l-8d; heavy, 5 9to 69lbs, 8d to 9 7-8 d; medium, 50 to 581bs, 7d to 8 7-8 d; light, 491bs and under, 4d to 8d; cut, slippy and inferior, 3d to 7-Jd. Cow: Medium, 531bs and over, 4d to 8 l-8d; medium, 42 to 521bs, 4d to 8d; light, under 42 lbs, 4d to 8d; cut, slippy and inferior, 3d to 7d. Bull, slags, etc., Id to 4d; yearlings (lllbs to 16ibs), 5d to B|d; ditto (17 lbs to 321bs), 4d to 8-}d; calf, superior (up to lOlbs), 13d to 13|d; calf, medium to good, 9d to 13d; calf, damaged, 4d to lOd; horse, 2s to 3s 6d. Tallow was firm. In tins, 20s to 21s 6d; in casks, 22s to 23s 6d. Sundries. —Cow tails, 15d to 19d; horse hair, 18d to 24i<L
