“RED” FREEDOM
MOSCOW S PROPAGANDA American Labour Federation Unfavourable. PRESIDENT ISSUES STATEMENT. [By Telegraph—Per Press Assn.—Copyright.] Received May 18. 11 p.m. (A. & N.Z.) NEW YORK, May 17. Mr Green, president of the American Federation of Labour, has issued a statement that especially following conferences with M. Kerensky the Federation executive is strengthened in its determination to oppose the recognition of the Soviet Government by America until the Russian Rod Internationale disavows its purpose to promote a world revolution and destroy the American Federation of Labour, and until a free democratic Government, recognising its obligations to its own people and proper relationship to other nations, is established in Russia. Russian trades unions arc dominated and controlled by the Government, and the Government is the Communist Party, he says. The American trades unions seek freedom, not industrial or political domination, and political liberty and industrial freedom are known by name only in Russia.
