HOCKEY CLUB [ From the “ Chronicle’s ” Special Correspondent. ] On Wednesday last the Apiti hockey girls met the local team on the home ground and the game resulted in a win for the visitors by two goals to one. The club has acquired a new ground and the game, as a result of the good condition of the turf, wa,s much faster than is usually played on the local ground. Goals for the visitors were scored by M. Cummerfield and N. Russell. The home team’s goal was scored by A. Boshier. Mr A. J. Tompkins controlled the game. The visitors were afterwards entertained at afternoon tea. FOOTBALL CLUB On Saturday the senior footballers travelled to Apiti and were defeated by 26 points to 3 e Owing to the Scarcity, of senior players the team played with two men short. The junior team was more successful and succeeded in defeating the Kiwitea juniors by II points to 8. The game was was played on the home ground and Mr A. J. Tompkins held tho whistle.
