BOY SCOUT EVENING [ From the “ Chronicle’s ” Special Correspondent. ] On Friday evening a pleasant little gathering of Scouts, Cubs, parents and friends was held in the Clifton Hall lor the “going up” ceremony in which the following Cubs were promoted to the ranks of Scouts:—Senior Sixer, L. Ranson, sixers, A. Kemp, Ellery, McKenzie, Bromley ami Haycock. The medals won for the relay race at Palmerston North were presented to R. Ellery, J. Carter, E. Lewis and H. Edwards. During the evening, which was spent in games and songs, a number of articles made by the Cubs such as stools, bookcases, raffia baskets, etc., was sold to a ready market, the funus raised being to assist the newly-form-erJ, Wolf Pack at the Anglican Boys Home at the Hutt. This enjoyable evening was brought to a close with an excellent supper handed round by’ the Scouts. GENERAL NEWS A euchre party and dance will be held in the Ohakea Hall to-morrow evening. in order to raise funds for the Parewanui School a euchre party was held in Parewanui on Friday evening and a •iance will be held at the pah on Tuesday night. The winners on Friday evening were (ladies) Mrs Marshall; men (T. Brown), whilst the consolations were awarded to Mrs M. Anderson and Mr T. Rewiti. During tho evening Mifes Lewis (Awahuri) rendered several songs and Miss Strawbridge (Feilid* ing) gave recitations. On Tuesday evening the music will be supplied by Mr J. Rueben. Another draft of 31 boys arrived at Flock House on Saturday making a total of 75 now at the hostel. “THE SAVAGE” Ben Lyon is playing the title role in “The Savage” which is to be shown at the Bulls Town Hall on Saturday evening, Ben has been one of the hardest worked motion picture actors in the business this past year, having no time for vacations between pictures. May McAvoy has the feature! feminine role.
