AUCKLAND BEQUESTS ORPHANAGES TO BENEFIT. (Special to 44 Chronicle..”) AUCKLAND, May 14. In order to commemorate his 80th birthday, Mr Moss Davis, now of London and formerly a well-known Auckland business man, has given £l2uo to be distributed among Auckland orphanages and various philanthropic societies. Among the institutions specifically mentioned by Mr Davis were St. Mary’s Homes for Girls, the Orphans’ Home at Papatoetoe and the Richmond Road Orphanage, and these institutions will benefit to the extent of £lOO each.

The late Mr R. H. Abbott, a prominent Auckland resident, bequeathed £lOOO for the erection of entrance gates or a drinking fountain in Waiatarua Park, beyond Remuera.
