PREACHER INTERRUPTED
YOUNG MAN ARRESTED THEFT CHARGES FOLLOW Interference with a street preacher on a recent evening led to tho appearance at the Wanganui Magistrate’s Court on Saturday of Sydney Haggie and George Green, who were charged with the theft from Patrick O’Halloran of two silver watches, a gentleman’s gold watch chain, and a bottle of rum of a total value of £2O 13s Od. The evidence was to the effect that after O’Halloran had been accosted in the street by a man who called him “Pat,” and two others, he missed the watches and rum, and after accused had been Taken away oy a constable in a taxi, tho taxi driver found tho watches in the car whero Green had been sitting. Accused made a statyient to the police in which they said thdy wer? very drunk and could not explain where the watches and cLain came from.
They were remanded for sentence till Tuesday.
