WORK AT WANGANUI LARGE SHIPMENTS FROM THE PORT There has been considerable activity during the past few weeks in tho shipping of dairy produce from the Wanganui cold storage works at Castloi-liff. Numerous Home liners have loaid'cd produce in the roadstead and tho port has experienced an exceedingly busy period. J Indications at present are that the work this month will be as heavy as that of last month. In April, there were five shipments from Wanganui, including one to Australia of 1000 boxes of butter. Cargo from this port was taken by the following vessels:—Port Caroline, April 6, 12,297 boxes of butter; Mahia, April' 14, 2648 crates of cheese; Tainui, April 27, 5563 boxes of butter; Hurunui, April 30. 1262 boxes of butter ami 292 crates of cheese; Moeraki (transhipments), April 30, 1000 boxes of butter. Quantities and vessels for this month to date are:—Port Darwin, May 3, 1724 crates of cheese; Somerset,'Mav 5, 3258 crates of cheese; Hcrtfoni, Mar 10, 7389 boxes of butter. To-day, the Commonwealth and Dominion line freighter Port Denison is expected at. Wangnnu, to lift some 3000 crates of cheese, and between 5000 and 6000 boxes of butter. , Following this largo shipment thorn Will still be approximately 11 630 boxes of butter and 7280 crates ’ of choose remaining, besides the quantities enntinually coming to hand for gradin'and for export. Tho latter supplies however, as is usual at this time of the year, are rapidly diminishing.
