OBJECTIONS TO DESIGN EMPIRE SOCIETIES’ PROTEST (A. & N.Z.) CAPETOWN, April 28. The Caledonian Empire League, Sons of England, and Cambrian and Cornish Societies resolved at a conference at Johannesburg that the proposed flag was not acceptable and not characteristic of the common blood between the two races Any attempt to pass the (Flag Bill without general consent would be resisted by every constitutional means . Meetings are being organised in all towns to pass similar resolutions. The conference formed a co-ordinat-ing Council of Patriotic Societies, and the Empire League is taking counsel’s opinion a s to whether the Act of Union granted by the King can be altered in any fundamental principle.
