MARTON SWIMMING CLUB. [ From the “ Chronicle’s ” Special Correspondent. ] The committee of the Marton Swimming Club met last evening, Mr K. A. Williams presiding. It was reported that two life-saving teams from Wanganui had accepted the invitation of the club to compote at the swimming carnival at Marton on Thursday evening, March 17. Mr Isles had given a silver miniature cup to be presented to the captain of the winning te'am. Mr A. V. Brown was appointed starter. An attractive programme of events has been drawn up for the ciarnival. EVENING SPORTS MEETING Another evening sports meeting, comprising three cycling events and three running events, will be held in Marton Park to-morrow evening, commencing at 6 o ’clock sharp. The following handicaps have been declared by Mr A|. Smart for the cycling events:—

CBOQUET At Hunterville to-day a team of Mar ton ladies will play Hunterville in « friendly match. The teams are:— Marton,—Mesdames Hempieman, A. E. Parkes, A. Staples, O. Neumann, W.
