A committee meeting of tho Caledonian Society was hold in tho Scot’s Hall on Saturday evening, Mr A. G. Simpson being in tho chair. Tho bal-ance-sheet was read and declared very satisfactory. A general meeting is to be held on April 2. SWIMMING. A swimming carnival will be bold In the swimming pool to-morrow afternoon, Messrs H. J. Thompson and T. Brunton will perform tho duties of handicap, pers and starters, and Messrs O'Brien and Murray will act as judges, The ae= cominodation at present is not quite satisfactory, but when funds allow, it will be improved. A collection will be taken at the carnival for this end, and it is to be hoped that the attendance will be largo. Swimming at HuntervlUe is becoming a very popular sport, es» pecially with the younger generation. Great improvements have been made In the swimming pool by a voluntary bund of workers, but there is a lot to do for which money is a necessity. BOWLING. Huntervilie play Bulls in tho second round of the Rangitikei shield contests to-day, The competition is at present in ft very interesting stage, Marton having won two out of three gamea, HuntorvlUe one out of two and Bulls one out of three, Hunterville will bo represented by the following rinks, the final two being tho shield teams:-—F. Petherick, F. Berry, A. W. Porter, R, P. Ansley; P. McAlloy, J. Wilson, D. Chisholm, H. Towers; W. Stevens, 8. D. Lourio, L. J. Thompson, W. Wilson. In the championship singles, D. Chisholm 18, beat A. W. Porter 14. At present R. P. Ansley is leading in the championship with five wins and one loss. F. Petherick is next with five wins and two losses.

BATA DEFENCE BIFLE CLUB A shoot over two ranges was held by the Rata Club last Saturday, the following scores being registered at 300 and 500 vards: —W. Ennis 44. 44—88; H H. Bryce 45, 41—86; G. Follett 41, 45—86; A. Follett 41, 43—84; A. H. Rhodes 37, 39—76. This shoot counted for the Club’s Challenge Clp, three shoots having been fired, but owing to some competitors being unable, on account of illness, to fire in all three, two only have been counted. Th e positions of the various competitors to date are:—C. Gower 175, H. H. Bryce 173, W. Ennis 171, G. Follett 170, A. H Rhodes 169, A. Follett 108.
