GENERAL NEWS [ From the “ Chronicle’s " Special Correspondent. ] The weather has been all that cou?l bo desired during tho last few weeks, which has been a good help to farmers for haymaking. The country has a very parched appearance which has hair the effect of a big falling off in tho cream supply. Messrs Rasmussen ar.d Parkinson, well-borers of Palmerston North, have secured a good supply for the Wiitotara Hotel. The well is down soi»»e 500 feet and the water rises about nine feet above the surface giving a supply of 240 gallons an hour. A large number of parents and children attended the reception at Wanganui on Thursday last for the Duke and Duchess’ visit.
