Dr. Elizabeth Gunn returned to Wanganui yesterday from the Medical Congress lat Dunedin.

Mr J. H. Edmondson, general managed of the New Zealand Acetone Company, which has its headquarters at Napier, is visiting Wanganui.

Staying at Foster’s Hotel are Mr and Mrs John H. Tait, Mr and Mrs C. E. Melville (Melbourne), and Mr and Mrs Bdaumont Smith (Auckland).

Mr A. E. Cooke, the brilliant All Black Rugby footballer, is shortly leaving Napier for Masterton, where he is entering into a business partnership.

Mr L. R. McDonald, a brother of Mr E. H. McDonald, of Wanganui, is shortly to be married at Cromwell, Otago. The Rev. Father McDonald, of Hastings, another brother, will conduct the service.

Mr Fred. Spurdie, of Aramoho, has received advice of his success, with first class honours in history, in the examination for the MA. degree. He is at present in charge of the Opaku School, near Patea.

Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Wylie, of Napier, are staying at Foster’s Hotel. Mr. Wylie, who is secretary of the .Hawke’s Bay Electric Power Board, formerly represented Wanganui at Rugby, and subsequently played for Hanke’s Bay in Ranfurly Shield engagements.

At the annual meeting of the Wanganui Orchestral Society held last evening regret was expressed lat the illness of Mrs Hughes-Johnson, one of the Society’s most esteemed members. Mrs Hughes-Johnson has been an active member of the Society for over 30 years.

Members of the teaching staff of the Upper Aramoho Presbyterian Church Sunday School tendered a farewell at the church on Tuesday evening to Miss Vera Gilmour, who is to attend the Teachers’ Training College in. Wellington. On behalf of her Sunday School associates, Miss Gilmour was presented with a dainty bedroom clock.
