ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY
ANNUAL MEETING HELD A SUCCESSFUL SEASON The annual meeting of the Wanganui Orchestral Society was held last evening when Mr H. Collier presided over a good attendance. Annual Report In presenting the annual report the committee congratulated Mr Will. Hutchens, on the high musical standard achieved by the Society throughout the season, due chiefly to his indefatigable energy, enthusiasm and ability. . The balance sheet showed that the Society’s funds were in a healthy condition. Two subscription concerts were given, one in May and one in November. Each of these concerts met with the general approval of the music loving public and elicited the highest praise in both of Wanganui’s daily newspapers. The Society also assisted at a concert during the year -which was by the musical societies of Wanganui for the purpose °f assisting the funds of the Jubilee Institute for the Blind in Auckland. £>• The report was adopted. Mr Will Hutchens congratulated members of tho Society on their fine work during the past season. During his five year#’ association with the orchestra as conductor no year had been more successful than that just concluded, It was hU intention to arrange a Beethoven concert early in the new j&easoifl.
