GENERAL NEWS [ From the “ Chronicle’s ” Special Correspondent. ] A three-seater motor car overturned, five miles out on the Bulls-Turakina road on Sunday. The occupants of the car escaped with a shaking. Wednesday evening, February 23, will be ’’children’s night” at the pictures in the Town Hall, Bulls. The proprietor, Mr G. G. Goebel, has extended an invitation to all children attending the Bulls, Ohakea, Parewanui, Glyneath, Greatford and Clydesdale schools, to be present. The annual Bulls School picnic will take place at Aloana-Road to-morrow, and the kiddies, and grown-ups as well are looking forward to fine weather on that date. Hot water will be supplied. Two strong swimmers have been appointed to control the life-saving apparatus so the holiday should be devoid of any untoward happenings. A full sports programme has been arranged. As the business people are holding a public holiday there should be a large gathering at the picnic. The Parewanui School will hold their annual picnic at Moana-Boa on Briday, February 25, and it is hoped that a large gathering will be present. Bain is badly needed throughout the district, the pastures showing signs of being dried up, and even in the town there is a shortage of water. Personal The many friends of the Bev. G. Ireland will be pleased to hear that he is making satisfactory recovery from his operation. Air N. Lamont, with Mrs Lamont, returned from his annual vacation on, Monday and has resumed duty at the local post office. Mr B. Hunia, of Parewanui, is an inmate of the Wanganui Hospital. “THE SPORTING LOVER” The meteoric rise of Barbara Bedford, is engaging the attention of all filmdom these days. Her latest picture appearance is in “The Sporting Lover,” which screens at the Bulls Town Hall on Saturday evening. She plays opposite Conway Tearle. Also showing is episode No. 2 of Amundsen’s Flight.
