GENERAL NEWS [ From the “ Chronicle’s ” Special Correspondent. ] At the Police Court on Saturday morning, before Messrs H. J. Cameron, J.P.. and H. H. Richardson, J.P., Charles Busch was fined £2 for using obscene language. Accused, a ship’s fireman, came from, Wellington on the Limited on Friday night. “Just Suppose” is listed for screening at the Marton Town Hall this evening, when another episode of the serial “Samson of the Circus” will also be shown. MARTON v. POREWA Marton fend Porewa met at the Sports Grounds on Saturday, the game resulting in a draw after a very good match. Marton batted first, compiling 119. A. Staples (42) shaped in nice style, J. Brofed scored a forceful 34 and R. Kerr showed a sound defence for 24. Porewa made a bold bid against time to make the runs, but when the last batsman joined Swainson, four runs were required to win with two balls to complete the finial over.
