CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. (From the “Chronicle’s” Special Correspondent). The monthly meeting of the Chamber of Commerce was held on Monday evening. Afr. A. W. Ashwell presided. Messrs C. le F. Honore and W. H. Wilson were elected members and Afr. W. Moorman an hon. member of the Chamber. A deputation from the Sports Club waited upon the Chamber and suggested Saturday, January 29, 1927, as a suitable day to hold the sports meeting. Afr. F. Glasgow asked the members of the Chamber to give the Sports Club their assistance with the sports, pointing out that the proceeds would be spent on the domain for the benefit of the children. It was resolved that Saturday, January 29 would be a suitable day and that the Chamber would assist with the sports as far as possible. The Borough Council advised that the proposed motorists’ camping site, situated on. the Parapara Road near the township, had been granted and that a sub-committee had been appointed to meet members of the Chamber of Commerce to go into the ways and means. A sub committee composed of Messrs J. Lucas, J. France, J. L. Vile and the chairman, were appointed to confer with the Borough Council’s sub-com-mittee.

The secretary was instructed to write to the Auckland Automobile Association asking if there were any signboards available for this district.
