AN ELECTOR’S QUESTION

(To tho Editor) Sir, —As an elector for Wanganui I want to ask you a few questions. What is wrong with Mr Veitch as our member 1 Is ho not a most useful member of the community; has he. not got loans for all sorts of people in Wanganui from a Government that is notoriously opposed to him? Has he not proved himself Un ardent opponent of the Government on every possible occasion? Has he not, on the public platform, blown his own horn and slated the Government for all he is worth? Has he not evaded every straight question put to him on matters of importance most successfully ? All the above being essentials of a thor-ough-going politician and being qualities not possessed by either of the other candidates, I come to another question, which is, why don’t these other two would-be members pull out and leave the seat to Mr Veitch. After all, sir, it is his job, and if he loses the seat he will have to go and work for his living like the rest of us, and we all know he does not want to do that. I consider it a piece of presumption on the part of Messrs Rogers and Coull to butt in like this.—l lam, etc., . GNASHIONAL.
