A THOUGHTFUL ACTION

(To the Editor) Sir, —Last Sunday afternoon, when motoring from Upokongaro, on approaching a very dangerous corner, we noticed a little Maori lad coming round the corner. He stood still, looked back and then began to gesticulate, so I we knew there was danger lahead. Our | driver accordingly at once slackened speed considerably. Almost on tho corner wo met another car. Had it not been for this little lad’s thoughtfulness we must assuredly have met right on the corner. I hope you will find space in your esteemed paper for this pretty little incident, as many grownups are not so thoughtful. If we would all emulate this little Maori lad’s kindly and thoughtful action many an accident might be averted. I might add ! the lad was of very tender years—l | should judge he was not more than 11 i years of age. Thanking you in b,n--licipation,—l am, etc., MARY MEADS. ! Westmere, October 29, 1925.
