A largo entry came forward for the annual cattle fair, well over 2000 head being offered to a large attendance of buyers. The quality of the stock showed improvement on last year’s offering. Considering the bad weather this winter, the stock was surprisingly good. Practically the whole yarding was quilted at satisfactory prices, which showed quite a fair improvement on late sales. Three prime heavyweight Shorthorn cows, the gift of Mr Wm. Milverton, Palmerston North, offered for the funds of the Willard Homo, All Saints’ Home and the Salvation Army, realised £350. Good two-year P.A. steers, £7 7s, £7 8s 6d; Good yearling Hereford steers, £5; two-year Hereford steers (passed) £6 7s 6d; m.s. yearling steers, £5 ss; yearling P.A. cross steers, £5 ss; yearling S.H. steers, £5, £5 ss; yearling P.A. steers, £5 4s, £5 ss; good fat Hereford cows, £l2 Is; fat Hereford and P'A. heifers and cows, £lO 17s 6d; good fat P.A. cows, £ll 12s 6d; a nice lino of two-year P.A. heifers, £6; three-year Hereford steers (passed) £8; four and five-year S.H. bullocks (passed), £lO 7s fid; three and four-year P.A. ‘bullocks, £lO Ils; four-year good condition do., £ll 7s; four-year Hereford bullocks, £lO 15s fid; five and six-year store bullocks (passed) £lO 10s; four-year Hereford bullocks (good condition), £11; four and five-year Hereford bullocks, £lO 16s; five and six-year forward Hereford-S.H. bullocks, £ll ss, £l2.
