GREECE AND BULGARIA
COMMISSION OF INQUIRY APPOINTED BY LEAGUE. PARTIES AGREE TO ACCEPT DECISION. By Telegraph—Per Press Assn.—r Copyright Received October 30, 7.15 p.m. (Reuter). PARIS, Oct. 29. The League Council is appointing a commission of inquiry into the GrecoBulgarian dispute, with Sir Horace Rumbold as chairman. It will consist of one French and one Italian officer, and one Dutch and one Swedish civilian, and will meet at Genoa early in November and proceed to Macedonia. Meanwhile the three Allied investigators remain on the spot. Mr Chamberlain announced that Sir Horace Rumbold’s commission is empowered to fix responsibility for the outbreak, suggest measures to prevent a recurrence, and fix the indemnity. Greece and Bulgaria intimated their Government’s readiness to accept the Council’s decision.
GREECE ACTS PROMPTLY BULGARIA EVACUATED. Received October 30, 7.15 p.m. (Reuter). ATHENS, Oct. 29. It is officially reported that the Greeks have completed the evacuation of Bulgaria. TROOPS WITHDRAWN EVACUATION COMPLETE. ATHENS, Oct. 29. Official.—The Greeks have evacuated Bulgarian territory. A SMALL HITCH SHOTS EXCHANGED. PARIS, Oct. 29. The Council of the League has received telegrams from Athens explaining that the hitch in the Greek evacuation of Bulgaria occurred owing to Bulgarians following too closely upon the Greeks’ rear, as a result of which shots were exchanged, but the incident was not serious, and evacuation is to be carried out according to schedule.
