A SAILOR’S DEATH. SUBJECT FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH. LONDON, Oct. 28. An inquest has opened at Teignmouth on Rees, mate of the steamship Orchia, who was asphyxiated by gas from a cargo of apples. He removed the hatch and wias overcome by fumes and fell into the hold. The engineer who went to his help was also overcome. The inquiry was adjourned for scientific inquiries.
