THE EDEN SEAT
MR. GRIGG RETIRES. NATIONALIST WHO CAME TOO LATE. [Per Press Association.! AUCKLAND, Oct. 26. Upon the advice of the executive of the National Party, Mr F. W. Grigg, chairman of the ' Waitemata County Council, has decided to retire from the contest for the Eden seat at the coming elections. The executive considered the time at Mr Grigg's disposal is not sufficient to acquaint the electorate properly with the National Party’s programme and views. At the same time the executive expressed the fullest confidence in Mr Grigg’s ability and integrity, together with a hope that he would allow himself to be nominated in plenty of time for the next fight. Mr Grigg’s first meeting in the city portion of the electorate last night was far from successful, the audience getting more amusement out of it than anything else.
