HUNTERVILLE.
DIALECTIC SOCIETY. WIND-UP EVENING. (From the "Chronicle’s" Special Correspondent.) The "windup" of the Dialectic Society’s second season was held on Tuesday evening, when a large attendance of members and friends enjoyed to the full a most successful social and dance. The Argyle Hall was beautifully decorated for the occasion under the supervision of Mrs. W. E. Stevens, who proved herself to be a past-mistress in this direction. Many novel and attractive schemes were introduced with wonderful effect and evoked many complimentary remarks during the evening. The supply of music was in the capable hands of Mr. A. E. 8. Crozier, who had to respond to numerous enthusiastic encores. During the supper interval "extras" were played by Mrs Butement and Messrs H. McManaway and R. Lourie.
As Master of Ceremonies Mr. A. C. F. Charles was the right man in the right plb.ee. He was untiring in his efforts to ensure that everyone had a good time and was largely responsible for the unqualified success of the function. He received able assistance from the society’s energetic and enterprising committee. A delightful supper was dispensed under the direction of Mrs. R. M. S. Jones, assisted by other ladies interested in the society. Suffice to say it was a real Hunterviile spread. During the evening items were contributed las follows:—Song, Mr. J. C. McEwan; song, Mr. Fox; musical monologue. Miss Inder; song, Mr. A. C. F. Charles. Mrs. D. D. Simpson and Misses Inder and Bowick played the accompaniments.
