SOLDIERS’ FARMS
(To the Editor). Sir, —I have just hud my attention drawn to your editorial of September 25, also the letters of Messrs Duggan and McKay bearing on the success or otherwise of soldiers’ settlements. Perhaps you could procure some bal-ance-sheets showing successful working of some of the farms. It would do more than tons of print or floods of talk to prove the success of the scheme. It is ta splendid scheme, spoilt by faulty administration —land unsuitable for dairying on. land wrongly subdivided, etc. In my opinion the Lands Department, including the Land Boards, want reorganising—the same old methods now as 35 years ago. I have hhd experience of the same then and now. However, I hope to hear of some balance sheets showing profits for hours worked and capital spent, especially in Wanganui district. —I am. etc., ONSLANDER.
