CHINA’S TARIFF CONFERENCE
A WILD OPENING. STUDENTS ATTACK POLICE. Received October 27, 11.5 p.m. PEKING, Oet. 26. Tuan Chi Jui opened the Tariff Conference. Twb thousand students demonstrated and demanded admission. Upon refusal they. attacked the police with sticks and stones. Thirty police were injured and sent to hospital. Some students were also injured. Others were arrested and order was restored. Tuan Chi Jui’s address of welcome to the delegates consisted chiefly of a demand for tariff automony.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
