IMPORTANT CONFERENCE IN AMERICA. GREAT ADVANCE BY PROFESSION. Received October 27, 8.55 p.m. NEW YORK, Oct. 26. The annual convention of the American College of Surgeons opened at Philadelphia. Sir Donald McGavin, of New Zealand, and Australian delegates were among those present. Dr. Charles R. Mayo, head of the famous Mayo Clinic, declared that little possibility of a mistake in the daignosis of disease remains. The trained nurse of to-day, he said, knows more than the physician of thirty years ago. The convention is being attended by 2500 surgeons, and will continue untu Friday. Clinics are being held in connection with the lectures.
