GERMANY’S PLACE IN THE SUN
HER LOST COLONIES. MAY WANT THEM BACK. LONDON, Oct. 26. The “Evening Standard” mentions that there are indications that the first substantive act after Germany’s entrance into the League of Nations will be an agitation for the return of her lost colonies. The policy apparently will be recognition of the fact that the return of German East and South West Africa is impossible, and the agitation is likely to be concentrated on the return of the Cameroons. It would be unwise to underestimate this new feeling, or, rather, revival of old feeling, as the source of future friction. Hamburg is now reviving as a shipping centre, but its eyes turn to South America. Berlin is, however, thinking again of a place in the sun. ’
