BALTIMORE AIR RACE

AN AMERICAN WINS. ONLY ONE BRITISH ENTRANT. NEW YORK, Oct. 26. Lieut. James Doolittle, in a U.S. Army Curtis racer, won the international Jacques Schneider seaplane trophy race at Baltimore. Britain’s entries for the Schneider Cup race at Baltimore were reduced to one, when Hinkler’s plane badly damaged the pontoons as it commenced its third attempt to qualify. Capt. Broad’s Giostir Napier 3 passed the navigability list on Friday and will be the only British challenger.

FAST FLYING RECORD FOR THE CUP. NEW YORK, Oct. 26. Doolittle’s time worked out at 232.573 miles per hour, establishing a new Schneider Cup record. Captain Broad did 199.169 miles per hour. Three other 'planes entered, but were forced down in Chesapeake Bay during the race and towed ashore.
