WAIMARINO HOSPITAL SIR MAUI POMARE WAITED UPON When Sir Maui Pomare arrived in Raetihi on Thursday afternoon, prior to leaving for Pipiriki where he was to address a meeting of natives, he was waited upon at the hospital by representatives of the hospital committee, Borough Council and Waimarino County Council. Mr W. H. Sandford (Mayor) introduced those present to the Minister of Health, and called upon Mr T. A. Harris to explain the needs of the district, in so far as the hospital was concerned. Mr T. A. Harris went fully into the matter of the hospital and explained how the residents were called upon to provide money for the establishment of a hospital. They provided over £lOOO and after the erection it was turned into a maternity home. The people wanted a general purpose hospital and the speaker referred to the great service the hospital could serve if it had its doors thrown open to all. The Minister said that he fully realised the wants and needs of the district and assured them that if returned to Parliament he would give their request every consideration. The Minister then left for Pipiriki and other settlements on the river where he continued his political campaign.
