LAWN TENNIS. HUNTERVILLE v. TAIHAPE. (From the “Chronicle’s” Special Correspondent). A team of Hunterville tennis players visits Taihape to-day to take part in the first inter-club match of t,he season. Last season the Hunterville Club put up some great performances and they tire expected to hold their own to-day. The teams are as follows: — | Hunterville.—Ladies: Misses Davey, , M. Lourie, Adkins, Nutting, Powell, ; Green. Men: Messrs 'Wheeler, Hig- i gins, Garner, R. Fergusson, W. Fer- | gusson and Jones. j Taihape. —Ladies: Miss Wapp-, Miss Johnston, Mrs. Hay, Mrs. Moore, Miss C. Donovan and Mrs. Kincaid. Men: Messrs Kincaid, Timbs, Rixon, Rob- , ertson, Moore and Alexander. SILVERHOPE DANCE. There was a fair attendance at the Silverhope dance on Thursday evening when a most enjoyable time was spent. Mr. Peina supplied excellent music, while extras were played by Miss M. Lourie, Miss Davies, Mr. R. Lourie and Mr. E. W. Donovan. The duties of M.C.’s were carried out by Messrs I. Lourie and L. Illston. A first-class supper Was provided by the ladies and was much appreciated. PRESBYTERIAN SUNDAY SCHOOL. The annual social in connection with the Hunterville Presbyterian Sunday School was held in the Scots Hall on Friday evening. There was a large attendance of children and friends and a very enjtable function it was. Music, songs and games, delightfully intermingled, were the order of the evening, and after ample justice had been done to the first-class supper provided by the parents, it was a happy and satisfied —even if a little tired—bund of juveniles that wended its way home. The items were as follows:—Recitation, Margaret Mill; song, Molly Gibb and Chrissie Howe; recitation, Lucy Thompson; chorus. Mary Taylor (piano), Molly Gibb, Ena Laing, Chrissie Howe, Audrey Meads, Mhy Wapp and Katie Dukeson; recitation, Betty Taylor; recitation, Doris Dukeson. THE SHIPPING TROUBLE. Elsewhere in this issue the Hunterville branch of the Farmers’ Uninn advertise that it is prepared to receive the names of volunteers in the event of crews not being completed to ship the produce to the Home market.
