RANGITIKEI CRICKET ASSOCIATION. (From the “Chronicle’s” Special Correspondent.) A meeting of the committee of the above association was held on Wednesday evening, there being present:— Messrs G. L. Marshall (chairman), G. G. Olliver, A. B. Innes, A. Hopkins, R. 1), Kerr, D. Cameron, J. Le Comte and C. A. Tidy. Messrs A. Hopkins, D. Cameron and R. D. Kerr were elected a selection committee. A discussion took place about the state of the Marton Park for cricket, and it was recommended that a set of heavy tripod harrows be put over the ground, followed by rolling. It was decided to ask the Park Committee of the Borough Council to have the ground put in order for the opening of the cricket season on October 28. If negotiations fail with the Park Committee for next Wednesday, the Grounds Committee was instructed to prepare two wickets on the new ground. A fete will be held in the Marton Park on Saturday, February 20. Messrs J. Lo Comto and T. .Barton were deputised to interview t-fto Pictures proprietors to try to arrange a $O-50 basis for, Saturdav night, February 20. Antonio Moreno, whom Rex Ingram has termed tho “original screen sheik,” will have the role of Tom Kendrick, tho American army offiver for -whom the French girl makes’ love and eternity during the few wee&s of her allotted life. Moreno will be seen in one of tho most stirring portrayals of his career. The other six stellar players are Dorothy Maekaill, Rosemary Theby, Joseph Kijgour, Sara de Grasse, Rose Dione, and Chester Conklin.

Now that the protest by tho Hqnterville Club has been dismissed by the management committee of the Rangitikei Rugby Sub-Union, and the Finnimore Cup and medals will be awarded to the Marton Football Club, the management committee of the club intend holding a smoke concert on Wednesday next for the purpose of presenting the cup and medals to tho winners. Ia addition to the above presentation, - Mr. A. M. Sims’ gold medal for discipline and control during the above contest will be presented to Nero Kano (Captain of the Tokorangi team), hs was awarded by the referees. J. McMillan also receives a gold medal for the most improved player in the senior team; H. Coleman for tho most improved player in the junior team, and G. Hall for the best tackler in the Marton-Rata senior match. He also receives a trophy for tho best player on tho ground in the final match between Huntervillo and Marton.
