HEMP AND TOW
INCREASED EXPORTS. (Per P-ess Association.) WELLINGTON, June 7. The quantities of hemp, tow, stripper tow and stripper slips graded at ports of the Dominion during May were:— Hemp.—Total number of bales graded, 6725, compared with 4902 for the corresponding month last year, an increase of 1823 bales. For the twelve months ended May 31, 1924, 65,882 bales were graded, as against 59,161 for the previous twelve months, an increase of 6721 bales.
Tow. —During the month 1432 bales were graded, as against 1159 bales in May 1923, an increase of 273 bales. For the twelve months ended May 31, 1924, 15,703 bales were graded, as compared with 15,641 for the previous twelve months, an increase of 62 bales. Stripper tow.—During the month 106 bales were graded, as against nil in 1923-
Stripper slips— Fifty-four bales wore graded, compared with 19 bales in May, 1933, an increase of 35 bales.
