BRITISH MINING CRISIS

Received May 6, 10.15 p.m. LONDON, May 5. Mr Cook, secretary of the Miners’ Federation at Pentypool, referred to the Court of Inquiry into miner’s wages, which has just concluded. He said that unless the Court made some tangible recommendation the inquiry would have been a waste of time. He had arranged to meet the coal-owners on May 14. If the men’s proposals were not satisfied there would be only two alternatives —strike or appeal to the Government, which had power to grant demands.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
